Green Policy

Protecting the environment is a priority for all of us at Concentis, we have implemented the following measures as our green policy:

Recycle

  • Concentis has hired a third party to shred sensitive information and to recycle paper and plastic materials, which is confirmed by a certificate that displays the number of trees saved so far.
  • Folders, paper carboard are reused or recycled;
  • In 2008, we recycled 1,000 kg of paper, 50 kg of cans and plastic bottles.
  • No styrofoam is used.
  • Ink cartridges and batteries are recycled.
  • Computer equipment is donated instead of being thrown out.
  • Reusable or recyclable material is used for shipping.

Reduce waste

  • Electronic communications are at the heart of what we do. We only communicate on paper if specifically requested by a client.
  • If we do have to print something, we use duplex printing and therefore reduce the amount of paper used by half.
  • Documents are printed only when necessary.
  • Computer screens are shut down at the end of the day.
  • When renovating, eco-friendly paint and construction materials are preferred.
  • Computers are turned off during the weekend.
  • Copiers are set to energy-saving mode when unused.
  • When cleaning, eco-friendly products or that do not contain formaldehyde or other lung irritants are preferred.
  • All lights, except surveillance and emergency lights, are turned off at the end of the day.
  • Wholesale products are preferred to individually wrapped products to reduce the packaging needed.
  • Neons or natural light is used for lighting offices.
  • A reminder to minimize printing emails has been added to all email signatures.

Purchasing

  • Computers purchased meet the EPEAT Gold or Silver Energy Star 4.0 qualification, the Climate Savers certification and the GREENGUARD Air Quality certification and are made of recycled plastic.
  • Supplies (paper, folders, cd, post-it, etc.) are recycled. Supply purchasin is grouped to reduce supplier carbon emissions.
  • Products made in Quebec or in Canada are preferred to minimize the carbon footprint.
  • Hardware and computer equipment emitting low decibel levels is preferred to reduce noise pollution and to promote a calmer work environment.

Travel

  • As much as possible, meetings nd information sharing are held by phone, web conference or by email.
  • As much as possible, our employees work from home.
  • If we do need to take a cab, we use a company with a fleet of hybrid cars.
  • To help reduce greenhouse gases, we promote the use of public transporation by refunding the monthly CITSO or STCUM card to our permanent employees who request it.

Office Environment

  • Plants are used to oxygenate the office air.
  • Heat is kept at 20°C in the winter and lowered to 17°C at the end of the day.
  • Air conditioning is kept at 22°C in the summer and turned off at the end of the day.
